Wastewater Management in Turkey

Day 1,10 May 2017, 16.00 - 17.45, Dolmabahçe C Hall
Convener: Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Turkey

Our country is among the countries with water stress, as the amount of available fresh water per capita is approximately 1,430 m3/year. Thus, water and wastewater management policy in our country is determined by considering the current and future water needs in line with the increasing population, urbanization, global and regional developments as well as the ongoing European Union accession process. This panel will provide the opportunity to exchange views on existing legal structure and infrastructure in wastewater management, practices and operational problems in wastewater treatment plants and solution proposals, environmental quality standards within the EU harmonization process and discharge standards based on receiving environment.
