More than a Dam: Ilısu carries through Hasankeyf’s Cultural Heritage over the Future

Ilısu Project, which will foster development in Southeastern Anatolia Region in numerous fields such as electricity production, agricultural development and employment, will also carry through Hasankeyf’s heritage to the future, the historic city which was founded in Mesopotamia and carries the traces of culture of different civilizations over the centuries.

650 years old Zeynel Bey Tomb weighing 1,100 tones, one of our most important monuments remained from Akkoyunlu Empire which once ruled Hasankeyf, will be carried in one piece with a special system. The other monuments will also be carried to future generations like Zeynel Bey Tomb.

Activities carried out for the first time in the world and have attracted the international community within “More than a Dam: Ilısu Project” in antique Hasankeyf city which is an open air museum with its multilayer historic structure, are aimed to be presented in this panel.
